MedSpanish 101: Communicating with your Spanish-speaking Patients" workshop presented by CENEU International in collaboration with Universidad Xochicalco School of Medicine addresses the pressing need for effective communication with the rapidly growing Spanish-speaking patient population in the United States. With over 43 million native Spanish speakers residing in the country, linguistically and culturally competent care has become indispensable to achieving healthcare equity. This interactive 50-minute workshop is designed to introduce students and healthcare providers to the basics of Medical Spanish. You will learn and practice basic terminology useful for interacting with Spanish-speaking patients: how to greet your patient and introduce yourself as their provider; the basics of a clinical interview and history of present illness in Spanish; common symptoms and conditions; and technical and colloquial anatomy. Take a step outside your comfort zone and towards a journey of growth that acknowledges each patient, regardless of their background, as worthy of high-quality, empathetic, and effective care.
