Dr. Ryan Gray, a renowned expert in medical school admissions, is hosting an OldPreMeds kickoff party at MappdCon 2023 for nontraditional premed students. This event aims to offer encouragement and motivation to those pursuing medicine through nontraditional routes. The event will include various speakers and guests, including current medical students, who will share their personal journeys and offer valuable advice to the attendees. Guests speakers that will be present at the event are not yet named but will be announced soon. The conference will provide an opportunity for nontraditional premeds to network, share experiences and get inspired to pursue their dreams of becoming a physician.

Dr. Ryan Gray, a well-known expert in medical school admissions, will deliver the keynote speech at MappdCon 2023. Dr. Gray's talk will focus on encouraging pre-health students to pursue their unique path and not try to fit a preconceived mold to achieve their goals. He will draw on his years of experiences helping students tell their story to inspire attendees to pursue their passions with confidence and determination. Dr. Gray will discuss how following one's own path can lead to greater fulfillment and success, rather than trying to conform to someone else's expectations. He will also provide practical advice on how to navigate the challenging and competitive landscape of professional school admissions while staying true to oneself. Dr. Gray's keynote speech promises to be an engaging and empowering session that will leave attendees feeling motivated and inspired.
The MappdCon 2023 Health-Professions Expo will feature representatives from various medical schools, PA schools, and other professional schools, as well as companies offering guidance and resources to pre-health students. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from these institutions and companies to learn more about their programs, services, and resources. Some reasons why students would want to engage with these schools and companies include:
- Learning about different medical schools, PA programs, and other health professional schools to help them make informed decisions about their future education
- Meeting with admissions officers and learning about the application process for different professional schools
- Discovering resources and tools to help them prepare for exams, such as the MCAT or GRE
- Learning about internships and research opportunities that can help them gain valuable experience in their field of interest
- Meeting with companies that offer guidance and resources to pre-health students, such as Mappd, to learn about services and tools that can help them achieve their career goals.

MedSpanish 101: Communicating with your Spanish-speaking Patients" workshop presented by CENEU International in collaboration with Universidad Xochicalco School of Medicine addresses the pressing need for effective communication with the rapidly growing Spanish-speaking patient population in the United States. With over 43 million native Spanish speakers residing in the country, linguistically and culturally competent care has become indispensable to achieving healthcare equity. This interactive 50-minute workshop is designed to introduce students and healthcare providers to the basics of Medical Spanish. You will learn and practice basic terminology useful for interacting with Spanish-speaking patients: how to greet your patient and introduce yourself as their provider; the basics of a clinical interview and history of present illness in Spanish; common symptoms and conditions; and technical and colloquial anatomy. Take a step outside your comfort zone and towards a journey of growth that acknowledges each patient, regardless of their background, as worthy of high-quality, empathetic, and effective care.
